Matt Christian to start at QB for Aggies
New Mexico State Aggie head football coach DeWayne Walker announced that quarterback Matt Christian will start this weekend, when the Aggies visit the Idaho Vandals.
Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
Christian started the first four games of the year for NMSU, before getting hurt in Week 4 against Boise State, suffering a sprained right shoulder.
Freshman Andrew Manley got the start last week at Boise State before being relieved by Christian early in the contest. Christian finished the contest completing 11-of-22 pass attempts for 155 yards.
"We're gonna go with Matt. He's our guy. He has football IQ, he's more experienced, he's older,"Walker said. "We're not going to be afraid to play Andrew if we have to. But we built our offense around Matt before he got hurt and we're going to stay with that until we feel like we have to make a change."
