Woodhead heads list of inductees
Danny Woodhead didn't have to wait long to be awarded hall-of-fame status. A number of notable names will be inducted into the Nebraska football hall of fame this fall. Woodhead of North Platte was selected based on his winning the Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the NCAA Division II player of the year, in 2006 and 2007. Woodhead also became the NCAA's all time leading rusher at Chadron State. Woodhead is one of 10 players who will be inducted this September. Seven are former Huskers — I-back Ken Clark, defensive end Tony Felici, tight end Sheldon Jackson, defensive tackle Bob Liggett, center Kelly Petersen, split end Tim Smith and tackle Alonzo L. "Lon" Stiner.
Also selected were Hastings College defensive tackle Chris Bohl and Nebraska Wesleyan offensive guard Brian Bohling. They were selected in the Nebraska state college-university level. Former Nebraska defensive end Grant Wistrom will receive special recognition at this year's ceremonies, which will be held Sept. 12 at Memorial Stadium. All honorees will be recognized the next day before the Nebraska-New Mexico State game.
