Following a three-set loss to Hawaii, the New Mexico State Aggie volleyball team hits the road for two conference bouts, starting on Thursday night when the team plays the San Jose State Spartans in California.
NMSU will be in action once again this weekend in Logan, Utah to face the Utah State Aggies.
Thursday's match at San Jose will begin at 8 p.m. while NMSU's battle versus Utah State will tip off at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
NMSU has been led by a handful of stars on the offensive end. Junior Krista Altermatt continues to play well for New Mexico State, particularly in WAC play. She is averaging 3.25 kills per set to go along with a .429 hitting percentage in conference competition.
The Aggies also have three players who have recorded 100 kills on the year as well. The list consists of Lindsey Yon (196 kills), Altermatt (119) and Amber Simpson (114).
Yon has been a standout performer for the Aggies in 2008. She has come up with double-digit kills in 13 of NMSU's 15 contests to go along with the nine she notched in the team's loss to No. 9 Texas. She has also put togther five double-doubles on the year, with her last coming against Idaho on Sept. 25, when she pounded 14 kills and 11 digs.
NMSU enters Thursday's match with an 8-7 overall record, 3-1 in the WAC. The Spartans are 6-9 overall, 2-3 in conference.
